Three Social Media Marketing Predictions for 2011

If there’s anything that’s true about social media marketing, it is the amount of money that is being spent on it. Yet the return on investment in social media marketing is so poorly understood. Social media marketing is still inits infancy and we will see big changes to the landscape in the years to come.

Here are a few predictions that will impact social media marketing in a big way this year:

#1: Youtube will beat Yahoo as the second largest search engine in the world
More and more people are interested in watching video instead of doing text searches. Youtube will quickly become the second most used search engine.

#2: Email will make a comeback
One of the biggest reasons why email addresses (as opposed to social media) are such an excellent investment is because people who use them rarely change them. Social media has become so saturated that messages are often lost.

#3: Large companies will spend money on ‘vanity’ metrics
Most experts believe that there is very big difference between vanity and actionable metrics, and one of my predictions for this year will be that large companies will waste a lot of money on vanity metrics that will do them no good. Therefore, it’s important for companies using social media to understand which metrics count in terms of their company’s performance and which don’t.

Email Marketing – Easier Than You Think

Advertising on the internet is certainly the fastest growing medium that the world has ever seen. In twenty short years, the bulk of advertising has switched from paper, billboards, and radio to the internet. One of the best ways to take advantage of the internet is through email marketing. There are a lot of different things to consider when making your choice but fortunately there are a lot of great companies out there.

There are so many options when it comes to picking a good email marketing service. Although there are many websites out there that serve as comparison guides, it is almost impossible to discern the quality of a service without using it first. Every different brand of email marketing software has different features, different things they are good at, and even things that are completely missing.

A quick Google search for reviews of the different services can be a bit overwhelming. However, some of the different things that one should look for when searching for an email marketing service include newsletter templates, auto responders, number of subscribers possible, and number of emails one can send out in a certain period.

Fortunately, most of the major brands of marketing solutions are inexpensive and giving one of them a quick trial can be very cheap, if not free. Go to a comparison website, find a service that they recommend, see if they offer a free trial and, voila, you can give it a shot without any financial risk.

Four Steps to Effective Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing has become all the rage, thanks to the possibility that your campaign can go ‘viral’. Yet there are so many people who consider themselves stalwarts in the social media marketing industry who often forget the basics .

What does it take to be effective in social media marketing?

Here are a few steps that will help you stay on track if you want to know how to use social media fruitfully:

#1: Using the right platform

As there are several social media sites out there, it makes no sense to use all of them but only those that will serve your company best. It’s in your best interests to either use general or niche-oriented social media sites.

#2: Using social media consistently

In using social media consistently, you’ll discover what doesn’t work and what does, and in doing so, you should be able to ensure that your social media initiative is successful.

#3: Appealing content for your audience

So who is important when it comes to social media? It’s your audience, of course. Ensuring that you not only have interesting and informative blogs written but also keeping them updated with the latest news is in your best interests if you want to make the most of social media. Of course, the content should be created keeping the end objective of the social media project in mind.

#4: Network, network and network

While great content is important, it’s just as important to have an awesome social network which can not only help you in ‘going viral’ but also helping you when the going gets tough. Being able to count on several friends to help you will be a good idea.

How to Deal With Writer’s Block

One of the most common issues that content writing poses is that of writer’s block. Yes, these are days when you just cannot write. Your thoughts don’t come together, and often causes writers stress. They also result in missed deadlines and angry clients.

Is it possible to overcome writer’s block?

The truth is that no matter how difficult it seems, there are steps that you can take in dealing with writer’s block. Here they are:

#1: Writing Schedule

Find your sweet spot when it comes to writing.. When you do find this spot, ensure that you spend this time working on your projects. You will find that you will be able to finish most of your work in a few hours.

#2: Take Time Off

Sometimes when you haven’t taken time off, you experience writer’s block and this is a sign that your ideas need some time away. It’s not a bad sign actually as this process often is fruitful, and you’ll be ready to get back to work soon enough.

#3: Work on more than one project at a time

Variety is the spice of life, and sometimes it gets boring working on only one project. It is advisable to multi-task on several projects at a time to ensure that this does not happen.

#4: Find your own writing space

In one sense, it is a good idea to find your own writing space because this will ensure that you are able to concentrate fully and write well, thanks to the environment that allows you to think cohesively. This is a factor that you just cannot ignore!

Three Tips for Effective Email Advertising

There is a fine line between promoting your business, service or product by email well and finding most of your emails end up in a Spam folder. If your email advertising isn’t producing the results that it should be able to, there is something wrong.

Here are a few tips that could help avoid your emails from getting on the Spam list:

#1: The Right Target Audience

In creating your email list, you have to ensure that you are targeting the right audience for your product or service. There’s no point in finding an audience that has no need or interest in your product or service. Most of all, whatever message you send them, you should in believe in it in order for it to make an impact on them in such a way that they show interest in your product or service.

#2: Personalization makes a difference

As opposed to sending a general email to everyone, it is far more effective if you address it personally to each and every person you are sending the email to. Write the copy of the email as if you are talking to each person in a one-on-one conversation while remembering to use words that are bound to capture his attention.

#3: One message at a time, please

Perhaps the worst thing that you can do when you send emails of this nature is to write a huge email with big words and with several points that will take a lot of effort on the part of the reader to comprehend much less show interest in. So, keep it simple and send one message with just one point to make about your product or service.
