3 Principles of Brain Science to Use in Social Media Ads

If you’re concerned in getting more attention with social media, then it’s a good idea to create them using principles of brain science.

This is for the simple reason that these principles shed light on what the brain pays attention and what keeps that attention.

So, here are 3 principles of brain science that you can apply to your social media ads:

#1: Integrate mystery with uncertainty

Our brains love a good mystery and which is why this principle should be taken seriously since your it won’t lose focus if it can’t understand something. In terms of your social media ads, you can create a mystery and to solve which, you will be compelled to click the ad. Another way to get attention is the creation of anticipation. Some successful car companies use this in their marketing ads and which is something that you can try to use as well.

#2: Use Motion in the form of GIFs or Video

It’s vital that you use GIFs for your most important social media ads as they will draw attention like no other type. Google+, Tumblr and Twitter allows for these types of pictures to be added. As for Facebook, you can add autoplay videos or even simple images that display motion.

#3: Share picture with Neutral faces

Our brains are attracted to faces and especially ones with a neutral facial expression. What this means is an expression that conveys a sense of ambiguity and which leaves the reader guessing what the model is trying to feeling or thinking. That said, it’s important to not make it too ambiguous but keep it interesting enough to capture (and keep!) the attention of a six year old.
